Position: Production Shift Manager

Job Description:

The role of Production Shift Manager is pivotal within our manufacturing facilities, collaborating with a team of associates on the production line to bring our iconic brands to market. We’re seeking a qualified candidate who excels at multitasking and possesses prior experience in coaching and motivating associates in a production environment.
Responsibilities:
Manage and enhance area-specific production processes, identifying and communicating improvement opportunities, achieving daily production goals, and executing planned enhancements.
Understand schedules, products, materials, and quality requirements to oversee line performance and KPIs within labor and operating expenses budget.
Lead a team of 15 to 30 hourly associates, fostering their development, and resolving operational issues, while motivating them to meet performance objectives.
Participate in production and personnel scheduling, administer company policies, and ensure compliance with safety, food safety, and environmental standards.
Organize and facilitate team meetings to promote continuous improvement.
Maintain and update process documentation through company systems.
Collaborate with the maintenance department to enhance equipment reliability.
Oversee communication within the production area and across functions.
Engage employees through regular team meetings, discussions on process improvement, and prompt follow-up on suggestions.
Provide effective formal and informal employee coaching, performance management, and development.
Ensure housekeeping, sanitation, and food safety practices are maintained.
Efficiently manage resources to maximize uptime, quality, and productivity.
Take responsibility for safety incident documentation and investigation, actively identifying and resolving safety risks.
Adhere to food safety/regulatory policies and procedures, executing responsibilities as outlined in standard operating procedures and reporting concerns to the Production or Quality Manager.
Qualifications & Requirements:
High School diploma or Bachelor’s degree in operations, engineering, business, management, or related field.
A minimum of 3 years of managerial experience, including hiring, employee development, coaching, and supervision in a production environment.
Preferred experience with lean manufacturing or similar continuous process improvement methodologies.
Knowledge of food packaging principles, food industry quality and safety requirements, ingredient performance, sanitation procedures, statistical process control, critical control points, and new product scale-up dynamics.
Demonstrated leadership abilities in motivating a diverse manufacturing team.
Project management skills.
Strong computer skills, preferably in MS applications.
Proven ability to excel in a results-oriented and challenging environment.
Effective facilitation, presentation, and team-building skills.
