Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Food Technologist with a focus on Beverage Design to collaborate at the intersection of science and creativity. Here, we craft essential solutions for a better world.

Your Role:
As a Senior Designer in the Beverage category, you’ll be responsible for delivering comprehensive flavor and ingredient solutions to our customers. This position requires close cooperation with the Commercial Team, Flavorists, Food Technologists, Marketing, and Product Experience teams to translate innovation, consumer insights, market trends, and project briefs into preferred solutions for our clients and their consumers. Additionally, you’ll play a key role in supporting local and regional business initiatives. This position is based in Gurgaon, India, and reports to the Design Leader for Beverages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead successful project execution and the implementation of IFF’s innovations in the Beverage category for the Indian Subcontinent.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to execute commercial and innovation strategies.
  • Develop project plans and create exceptional beverage prototypes and flavor emulsions in response to customer development briefs.
  • Drive the adoption of new technologies within the business.
  • Continuously expand your knowledge of ingredients, customer bases, processes, and flavor interactions within the associated category applications.
  • Foster connections with local and regional experts to establish best practices in experimental design and formulation.
  • Interact with customers by showcasing your technical expertise and problem-solving abilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams as needed to complete job tasks.

Project Management:

  • Independently work on customer projects to select and recommend appropriate flavor and ingredient solutions while adhering to customer profiles, legal requirements, cost constraints, and stability considerations, all within established timelines.
  • Work closely with Sales/Marketing, Flavorists, Product Experience, GRA, and other departments to support project execution.
  • Participate in new concept generation and other innovation activities.

Strategy and Business Knowledge:

  • Develop a network of IFF staff to expand application and business knowledge.
  • Establish relationships with customers and related categories.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of market evolution and consumer preferences within the assigned category.

Technical and Product Management:

  • Create application formulations based on industrial standards, country-specific requirements, and customer demands.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the function and performance of flavors and ingredients in different applications, as well as knowledge of end-product manufacturing processes.
  • Utilize creative and innovative skills to develop relevant new concepts.
  • Provide holistic solutions using creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Share your knowledge with the team.

Job Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • B. Tech or M.Tech Degree in Food Technology or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in product development in the beverage category (RTD, DPB, CSD, PSD, cordial syrup, etc) or a similar role within the food manufacturing, food ingredients, or flavor industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Proteins, Pectins, Gums, and other Hydrocolloids.
  • Familiarity with beverage raw materials, processing, and regulations governing their use within the food and beverage industries.
  • Expertise in beverage applications, formulation, manufacturing processes, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong project management and experimental design skills.
  • Innovative thinker and problem solver with a creative flair and a passion for beverages.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and company IS systems.
  • Experience in formulating industrial-scale beverages (RTD, DPB, CSD, PSD, cordial syrup, emulsion, etc).
  • Knowledge of food safety, raw materials, food regulations, GMP, and production processes.
