Job Description:
At PepsiCo, we’re looking for a Quality Control Coordinator to join our team at our Kosi, Uttar Pradesh plant. As a Quality Control Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest quality standards are maintained throughout our production processes.
Responsibilities:
Main Purpose:
- Lead the startup of our green field plant, ensuring the production of high-quality products and fostering a culture of quality.
- Stabilize the quality operations during shifts in our new green field plant.
- Ensure key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Work-in-Progress (WIP), Leakages, and Zero Red Complaints are met.
- Maintain the highest product quality standards and minimize customer complaints through rigorous online quality control checks and finished product inspections.
- Implement effective quality control systems and standards for processes, physical systems, and the environment.
- Troubleshoot during production to minimize wastage and maintain quality.
- Uphold GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), GHK (Good Hygiene Practices), GLP (Good Laboratory Practices), and perform internal/external audits (HACCP, AIB, Personal Hygiene, Process audit).
- Train and develop quality checkers.
- Ensure the quality of potatoes used for production meets specifications.
Scope of Responsibilities (in priority order):
- Ensure potatoes issued for production meet standard specifications.
- Conduct COOK Tests to assess factors like undesirable color, internal defects, greening percentage, etc.
- Report potato quality and pickers needed to the Agro Department.
- Decide whether a lot should be accepted or rejected.
- Conduct periodic COOK Tests for stored potatoes.
- Perform online quality checks during production shifts to adhere to PepsiCo quality standards.
- Conduct visual inspections and ensure machine operating parameters are within specified ranges.
- Check peelers, fryers, slicers, chip conveyors, and seasoning tumblers.
- Ensure timely peeling of potatoes.
- Monitor slice thickness and free surface moisture.
- Make decisions on introducing anti-foaming agents.
- Record dwell time and seasoning levels.
- Conduct analytical tests and decide on blanching.
- Manage fryer oil utilization and quality checks.
- Check fried chips for various parameters.
- Monitor bulk density, moisture, seasoning, and dimensions.
- Provide feedback to operators on corrective actions.
- Communicate picker requirements based on online checks.
- Address concerns promptly with shift in-charge and production manager.
- Inform Quality Manager in case of crisis situations.
- Ensure quality checkers make regular reports.
- Ensure operators maintain quality-related logbook entries.
- Hold regular quality wall meetings with production and engineering personnel.
- Conduct weekly housekeeping audits to ensure safety and hygiene practices.
- Inspect working conditions in the plant.
- Ensure equipment cleanliness.
- Manage hold material to minimize wastages.
- Adhere to statutory laws (Weights and Measures & PFA).
- Resolve customer complaints effectively.
- Participate in TPM activities and lead/participate in TPM projects.
- Promote a work culture that aligns with company growth.
Additional Information and Interactions/Complexity:
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders like packaging leaders, shift in-charges, and maintenance coordinators.
- Engage externally with CFAs, 3P Distributors, and Sales teams.
- Provide proper training and support to quality checks.
- Handle industrial relations situations related to quality.
- Qualifications:
- B.Tech in Food Technology.
- 3 to 5 years of experience with exposure to food safety systems and ISO systems.
- Knowledge of FSSAI, HACCP, AIB, and TPM is preferred.
