Job Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Food Technologist and Project Manager to join our team at The Belgian Waffle Co. If you’re a professional who is passionate about food and possesses a blend of culinary expertise, sales acumen, and project management skills, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

1. Product Development and Formulation:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, marketing, and production, to innovate and enhance our food products.
• Adjust product formulations to meet taste, texture, nutritional, and cost requirements.
• Conduct research on ingredient functionality, sensory attributes, and market trends to guide product development.

1. Supplier and Contract Manufacturer Management:

• Identify and assess potential contract manufacturers and suppliers, ensuring they align with our quality standards.
• Foster strong relationships with contract manufacturers, offering technical guidance and support throughout production.
• Conduct audits and assessments to maintain compliance with regulatory standards and brand requirements.

1. Quality Assurance:

• Develop and implement quality control procedures spanning from raw materials to finished products.
• Conduct regular inspections and testing to ensure product specifications are met.
• Address quality issues by investigating root causes and implementing corrective actions.

1. Regulatory Compliance:

• Stay current with food safety regulations, labeling requirements, and industry standards to ensure product compliance.
• Assist in preparing regulatory documentation, such as ingredient lists, nutritional labeling, and allergen declarations.

1. Process Improvement:

• Continuously evaluate manufacturing processes for optimization, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency improvements.
• Collaborate with manufacturing partners to implement enhancements aligning with our brand’s goals.

1. Training and Knowledge Transfer:

• Train contract manufacturer personnel on product specifications, quality standards, and best practices.
• Stay informed about the latest advancements in food science and share knowledge within the team.

1. Problem Solving:

• Act as a technical resource for troubleshooting production issues, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing solutions to maintain product quality.

1. Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of product development, production processes, quality control tests, and regulatory documentation.
• Prepare regular reports on key performance indicators, quality metrics, and project status updates.

Requirements/Skills:

• Strong understanding of food chemistry, microbiology, and sensory analysis.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations (FSSAI, etc.) and labeling requirements.
• Experience in food product development, contract manufacturing, or quality control within the food industry.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
• Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.
• Problem-solving skills to address production issues and implement effective solutions.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Understanding of category development and growth in the FMCG/F&B industry.
• Experience in conceptualization to commercialization of products in the FMCG/F&B space.

Work Experience: 6-12 years of B2B, FMCG (bakery and dessert) product development, and food manufacturing experience preferred.

Qualification: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, or a related field.
