We are seeking a Shift Manager for our ice cream company who will play a key role in ensuring smooth operations, delivering excellent customer service, and leading the shift team. This position is perfect for individuals with strong leadership skills and experience in the food service industry, particularly in ice cream or dessert-focused establishments.

Position Overview

The Shift Manager at Amadora Gourmet Ice Cream is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the store, maintaining quality standards, and providing leadership to the team to ensure exceptional customer experiences.

Responsibilities

  1. Team Leadership

Supervise and guide shift employees, including scoopers, cashiers, and kitchen staff.

Provide clear direction, delegate tasks, and foster teamwork to meet performance goals.

  1. Customer Service

Create a friendly, welcoming atmosphere for customers and address inquiries promptly.

Lead by example in providing an outstanding ice cream experience.

  1. Shift Operations

Manage store opening and closing procedures.

Organize staff scheduling, breaks, and rotations to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours.

  1. Quality Control

Maintain high standards of product quality and presentation.

Monitor inventory and coordinate restocking as needed.

  1. Food Safety and Hygiene

Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, including proper ingredient handling.

Train staff on sanitation practices and maintain a clean environment.

  1. Cash Handling

Oversee cash transactions and ensure accurate end-of-shift cash counts and reports.

  1. Training and Development

Train new employees and provide ongoing coaching to enhance performance.

Cross-train staff for different roles.

  1. Problem Solving

Address customer concerns, employee conflicts, and operational challenges with professionalism.

Escalate complex problems to higher management as necessary.

  1. Sales and Upselling

Encourage upselling techniques to increase transaction values.

Monitor sales performance and implement strategies for growth.

  1. Reporting

Maintain accurate records of daily sales, customer feedback, and employee performance.

Generate shift reports for management review.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in hospitality or business management is a plus.

Experience in a supervisory or shift management role in the food service industry.

Strong customer service skills and knowledge of food safety regulations.

Ability to lead and motivate a team.

Proficiency in cash handling and POS systems.

Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
