About the Job
Position Title: Product Development Manager: Dairy – Milk Beverages Products
Function: Research & Development (R&D)
This role focuses on driving product development and innovation for dairy-based beverages at Britannia. You will collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to create new products, optimize value, and ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- New Product Development and Commercialization:
Utilize market understanding and consumer feedback for product design.
Partner with business teams to develop and launch new products within agreed timelines.
Develop disruptive innovations to build a competitive advantage.
Create a pipeline of future products.
Build partnerships with vendors and business partners.
Coordinate and collaborate with co-packers where required.
- Value Optimization:
Evaluate technologies and formulations to increase margins without compromising quality.
Develop formulations with novel ingredients, minimizing capital expenditure.
Drive sustainability optimization programs for existing products.
- Systems & Processes:
Ensure efficient and agile R&D product development processes.
In-depth understanding of raw milk production, quality, and processing for Indian and international markets.
Expertise in milk beverages, including neutral, fermented, acidified, whey, and plant-based drinks.
Ensure smooth technology transfer from development to commercial production.
- Compliance:
Deep understanding of FSSAI regulations guiding beverages manufacturing.
Ensure regulatory compliance and product claims with zero damage to business continuity.
- Building Product Development and People Capability:
Utilize the current R&D facility to deliver world-class products and contribute to its growth.
Support and develop the R&D innovation practices to enhance margins.
Introduce novel ingredients and processes to establish market leadership in dairy beverages.
Education and Experience
Qualification: Master’s in Dairy Science
Experience: 10-15 years of experience in dairy-based beverages
Desired Competencies:
Soft Skills: Collaborative and influencing skills, sense of urgency, team building
Functional Skills: Project management, change management, product commercialization
