Job Title: Senior Food Technologist
Department: Research & Development (R&D) / Product Innovation / Quality & Compliance
Reporting To: Head of R&D / Technical Director / COO
Location: Navi Mumbai
The Senior Food Technologist will lead end-to-end product development — from concept to commercialization — while ensuring full compliance with food safety, regulatory, and quality standards. This strategic role contributes directly to innovation, product optimization, cost efficiency, and sustainable business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development & Innovation
- Lead product development from ideation to market launch
- Develop and optimize formulations for quality, scalability, and cost-efficiency
- Conduct trials, pilot runs, and factory validations
- Identify emerging ingredients, technologies, and market trends
Technical & Scientific Expertise
- Apply food chemistry, microbiology, and processing principles
- Improve shelf life, stability, texture, taste, and nutrition
- Troubleshoot formulation and processing challenges
- Evaluate and approve raw materials and alternatives
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as (FSSAI), (FDA), and other applicable authorities
- Support HACCP, GMP, and food safety systems
- Resolve technical and quality issues in collaboration with QA and manufacturing
Process Optimization & Commercialization
- Support scale-up and production transfer
- Optimize processes for yield, efficiency, and consistency
- Drive cost reduction without compromising product quality
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Procurement, QA, Marketing, and Operations
- Provide technical guidance and customer support
- Contribute to technical presentations and customized solutions
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain product specifications and development records
- Prepare SOPs, reports, and regulatory documentation
- Ensure audit readiness and traceability
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Successful product launches
- Product quality and stability improvements
- Cost optimization achievements
- Compliance audit success rate
- Faster product development cycles
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology / Food Science / Food Engineering (Mandatory)
- Master’s degree preferred
Experience:
- 8–15+ years in food product development, manufacturing, or R&D
- Proven commercialization and scale-up experience
- Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMP, regulatory compliance
- Expertise in formulation, shelf-life studies, sensory analysis, and factory trials
