Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Manager – Quality & Food Safety at Olam Food Ingredients India Spices Operations. This role is responsible for overseeing product quality assurance, food safety, and regulatory compliance for all products manufactured and shipped from India operations. The manager will lead laboratory operations (physical, chemical, and microbiological) and ensure the reliability of data for product innovation, pesticide analysis, and contaminant management.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage product technical specifications across physical, chemical, microbiological, and sensory parameters.

Initiate process improvements and cost-saving projects.

Provide scientific insights into formulation and processing issues for assigned projects.

Evaluate new product/process opportunities.

Implement new products into production and collaborate with plant management.

Establish and operate laboratories for physical, chemical, and microbiological analysis.

Develop methodologies for proximate compositions, contaminant analysis, pesticide residue analysis, and microbiological testing.

Assist customers with product and quality improvement initiatives.

Ensure compliance with regulatory labeling requirements and review recipes and processes.

Manage customer complaints, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and customer satisfaction initiatives.

Mentor technical staff to advance their knowledge in measurement techniques.

Collaborate with the operations team to maintain a quality audit-ready facility.

Develop and mentor the local team to promote organizational culture and values.

Position Requirements:

Master’s Degree or higher in Food Science, Chemistry, or Microbiology.

At least 15 years of experience in quality assurance, including physical, chemical, and microbiological techniques.

Minimum of 5 years of R&D/QA Management experience in industrial spices or savory spice blends.

Strong knowledge of food regulations, particularly in the EU, US, and Asia regions.

Expertise in spices and industrial spice ingredients, including sterilization technologies (ETO, Steam, and Irradiation).

Experience managing a team in both chemistry and microbiological laboratories.

Proficient in statistical analysis for designing experiments and measuring process capabilities.

Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to engage with customers and cross-functional teams, including Sales, PLM, and Operations.
