Job Overview
We are seeking a highly qualified Analytical Chemist V with expertise in Food Technology to support multiple projects related to food standards and allergen assignments. This role involves applying knowledge of food production, food technology, and food chemistry to ensure compliance with food standards and regulations, especially in the area of food allergens.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct technical and scientific reviews of data related to food standards and citizen petitions.
Assist in modernizing food standards policies and issuing temporary marketing permits for food products.
Review food standards principles, nutrition practices, and formulate future policies.
Monitor regulatory issues related to food labeling and allergen compliance, providing updates to the FDA.
Evaluate petitions and notifications seeking exemptions from federal food allergen labeling laws.
Collaborate in the preparation of reports and presentations on food allergen labeling and gluten-free labeling policies.
Support the development of allergen advisory labeling strategies, ensuring clear communication to consumers and compliance with FDA regulations.
Qualifications
Education: Masters to Ph.D. in Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or related fields.
Experience: 5+ years in the food industry with a focus on allergens and food technology (e.g., Nestlé, Kraft-Heinz, Danone).
Expertise in analytical chemistry, food technology, and FDA regulations, especially related to allergens and food labeling.
Proven ability to communicate complex technical and regulatory concepts effectively in both written and oral forms.
Strong skills in planning and executing complex projects in coordination with diverse teams.
Salary and Benefits
Salary Range: $110,000 – $145,000 per year (commensurate with experience).
